25 years ago, THE KING OF SOUTHERN SPAIN - AND THE WHOLE BALLAD was published. The book was my first children's book and has since been published in several editions and editions.
Kim Skotte wrote at the time in Politiken: "As grim as Grimm (...) An exotic extravaganza is this enjoyable adventure about the senses and language, the story and the imagination from Iselin C. Hermann. An adventure that the children listen to with joyful disbelief while they adults laugh in their beards."
In all modesty, the adventure has gone on to become a classic. Now it has been republished at the same time as the independent THE NEW KING OF SOUTHERN SPAIN - AND THE WHOLE SCHEME is published.
In "The New King" it happens, among other things, that Prince Safiro is to be crowned after his father has evaporated. But he is not at all prepared to sit on the throne. He escapes from the castle - his childhood friend who is a misfit acts as a stand-in, the great liar Mentirosa is hired as master of ceremonies, the royal cabal will not go down ... and then we have the whole mess again!
