Kunstnerromanen BERNINIS ØJE er baseret på fem års research om den italienske billedhugger Gian Lorenzo Bernini. En roman om succes, splid og spleen, fortællingen om talentets gave, forpligtelse og forbandelse.
Gian Lorenzo Bernini was a universal genius like Michelangelo before him. Bernini did everything you think of when you think of Rome: For example, the Four Rivers, the fountain in Piazza Navona, the oval square in front of St. Peter's Basilica, the smiling elephant with an obelisk on its back in Piazza Minerva.
Bernini was a sculptor, an architect, a painter... he was a child prodigy, a tool of the Catholic Church, lover, hater, schemer, agitator, devotee.
What I want with the novel is a heartfelt portrait of an artist, an artist at odds with himself, in accordance with his talent, I wanted to write about why art is necessary and how much it costs to create art.
